Privacy Policy
Horror Games Hub has no accounts, no comment system and no newsletter, so it holds no user records of its own. This page says exactly what happens to a visit: the ordinary operation of the web, plus one analytics script, plus the third parties that can observe a page request.
What this site collects
Two things, both from Google and both described below: anonymous visit statistics through Google Analytics 4, and advertising through Google AdSense. There is no fingerprinting and no profile built from anything you type here. The site itself sets no cookies and keeps no records of who you are.
What your browser sends anyway
Requesting any page sends what every web request sends: your IP address, your user agent, and whatever your browser chooses to send. That happens before any page code runs, and it is how the site gets delivered to you at all. This is the ordinary operation of the web, not collection by us.
What a rating stores
If you rate a game, your score is written to your own browser's local storage. It never leaves your device, is not sent to us, and cannot be read by anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes it. Because of that, a rating cannot be aggregated, corrected or deleted by us — there is no copy anywhere else.
Analytics
This site loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-SWDT765Q75) on every page. Google is the only party that receives analytics data, and it acts as a processor on our behalf rather than for its own purposes.
What the script records: the page you are on, the referrer that brought you here, and general device and browser information such as screen size and language. What it does not record: anything you type into this site. There are no accounts, no searches saved, no ratings sent to us — a rating is stored in your own browser and never reaches us or Google.
Analytics data is not sold, not shared for advertising, and not used to build a profile across other websites. Google may retain it in aggregate form. You can opt out of the whole thing with a browser extension such as Google Analytics Opt-out, which blocks this script before it loads.
Third parties on game pages
A game page loads these things from other people's servers:
- The game itself. Games are hosted elsewhere and are loaded in a frame. Whoever operates that host sees the request that loads it, and their own privacy policy governs what they do with it.
- The YouTube thumbnail and, if you press play, the video. Loaded from Google. Their privacy policy governs that.
- Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which sees the request and your IP address.
- Google Analytics. Described in the previous section. It loads on every page, not only on game pages.
- Google AdSense. The ads themselves, and the consent message in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Described under Advertising.
Each of these is a third party that can observe a visit. This is also why the share panel is built from plain links rather than embedded widgets: pressing share does not load an additional party's tracking code.
Advertising
This site is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. Google is the only advertising party on the site. Ads are served by Google, and where an ad is served, Google and its ad partners may use cookies and device identifiers to select which ad you see and to measure whether it worked.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message appears before any of that happens, and the ad script does not run until you answer it. Answering "accept" allows ads personalised using data Google already holds about you; declining means ads are still served, but chosen from the content of the page rather than from a profile of you. Google calls that second case non-personalised ads. You can change your answer afterwards from the "Privacy choices" link that Google then shows you.
Outside those three regions there is no consent step, because the law there does not require one for this kind of data.
You can also opt out of personalised advertising from Google at any time without visiting this page, from Google Ads Settings. That choice is stored by Google and applies across sites. The text you are reading now is not what changes — this preference is.
Google keeps its own record of what it does with the data, and its own policy governs it: How Google uses data from sites and apps that use our services. We do not receive the personal data behind that choice, and we do not use advertising data to build any profile ourselves.
Children
The site is a reference for horror games and is not directed at children. It holds no accounts and no personal records, so there is nothing for us to look up or delete on request. The analytics and advertising data described above is not linked to any named person, but if you believe a child has visited and you want that visit data removed, write to the address below and we will pass the request on to Google.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the change is made on this page and its date above updates. Questions go to support@horrorgameshub.com.
