Evil Nun: School's Out returns to Eagle Junior High School, the same building as the first game, and widens it. The corridors you learned to hate now have a summer camp attached to them — tents, outbuildings, new wings — and Sister Madeline is still the one holding the keys. She is the same pursuer: she patrols, she investigates noise, and she will come through a door you thought was safe. Six chapters run the length of the camp, and three exits are available if you can reach them.

What separates this from the first game is the crafting layer. Children you find around the camp will trade what they know for materials, and those materials combine into tools that change how you handle a chase rather than only how long you outlast it. That turns the resource you are managing from stamina alone into the inventory, and a clean escape usually depends on having built the right tool for the route you are working toward. With three exits you can commit early, and committing early is what makes six chapters finishable.

About Evil Nun: School's Out

The school is the same one, and that is the point. School's Out does not invent a new setting so much as show you the version of it you only ever saw from the inside of a chase — the parts of the campus that were closed off, the camp that was supposed to make the stay worthwhile, and the corridors that connect them.

The crafting layer changes what exploration is for. Without it, a school full of keys and doors is a lockpicking puzzle and the tension comes almost entirely from Sister Madeline. With materials and recipes, a trip through a wing can be about making something that changes the next encounter, which gives the searching a purpose beyond the objective you were given.

Sister Madeline is unchanged on purpose. The difficulty comes from the building getting larger while the threat stays exactly as legible as she was, so what you learn is not how to read her but how to use what you have built. That is why the chapters escalate by widening the map instead of by rewriting her behaviour.

How to Play Evil Nun: School's Out

Search the school and the camp for materials, combine them into tools, and craft what you need before she finds you. Six chapters and three escape routes are available, and committing to one route early is what makes the run finishable.

  1. Sweep a floor before moving up. Each wing has a predictable cluster of pickups, and clearing one wing properly means you can cross it later without stopping to search. Record what you found and what you still owe the crafting tree while the area is quiet.
  2. Keep the material list visible. Recipes here are short but they chain, and the useful question before you enter a new wing is not what you need but what you are one component short of. That turns a wing from a place you walk through into one you can finish a recipe in.
  3. Craft before you commit, not during a chase. The whole point of the layer is that the tool is already in your hands when the encounter starts. A recipe finished while Sister Madeline is in the room is a recipe that gets wasted.

How to Beat Evil Nun: School's Out

School's Out is finished by reaching one of the three exits with a full toolset, not by surviving long enough. The chapters each add a section of the campus, and Sister Madeline is the same readable threat throughout — what changes is whether you arrived with the right thing in your inventory.

Map the Wing Before You Use It

The school is big enough that getting lost is a real cost, and in a chase a wrong turn is often a dead end rather than a shortcut. Learn the loop of each wing on foot before you start ferrying materials through it, and note the doors she patrols so you have an alternative you do not have to think up while running.

Finish Recipes in Safe Rooms

Crafting needs a station and a few uninterrupted seconds, and Sister Madeline is drawn to exactly the kind of noise that interrupts one. Decide where your station-heavy wings are and what your escape from that room is, because a half-finished recipe in a corridor is worse than one you deliberately abandoned.

Build for One Route, Not Three

Each escape route wants a different toolset, and the six chapters do not give you room to supply all of them. Pick the exit you are aiming for, work backwards to the recipes it needs, and treat the other two doors as scenery until you have a way out actually in your hands.

Important Items in Evil Nun: School's Out

Materials are the currency of the crafting layer, and the children who hold them will not hand them over for free. Tools are the result, and they are the items that decide how an encounter goes.

ItemWhat it does
MaterialsCollected from the wings and traded to the children. Worthless alone, which is what makes the recipe list something you plan rather than something you stumble into.
Mask piecesThe campaign objective. Scattered across the chapters and only available once the path to them is open, so the order you take the wings in decides how quickly you reach them.
Crafted toolsCombined from materials. Each one changes how you handle a specific problem rather than adding a flat buff, which is why a route you built for will feel different from one you improvised.

Evil Nun: School's Out Difficulty Modes

School's Out ships with difficulty levels rather than a single fixed challenge. The differences are about how much margin the chapters leave you, not about hiding or exposing information.

ModeBest for
EasyPlayers who want the crafting system without the pressure
NormalMost runs, and the clearest way to learn the material chain
HardPlayers who already know the campus layout well enough to route around her

Tips and Strategies for Evil Nun: School's Out

Crafting Is Not Optional

Runs that ignore the crafting tree are the ones that stall. Without tools you are navigating the same corridors with the same options you had in the first game, and the added wing space turns that into a longer grind rather than a harder problem.

One Chapter Per Route Segment

The six chapters are long enough that trying to keep three routes supplied at once is what turns a run into a grind. Commit to the exit you are building, and treat the chapters as places to acquire that route rather than as content to survive.

Children Are a Map, Not a Cutscene

The kids who trade for materials also mark where the wing is still closed. If a route you have not opened is where a material you need lives, their price is the information that saves you the detour.

Save Your Crafting Moments

The loud moments in this game are the ones where Sister Madeline comes. Finishing a recipe while she is already in the wing wastes both the materials and the room, and the recovery time is what turns one bad encounter into a lost chapter.

Evil Nun: School's Out FAQ

How many chapters does Evil Nun: School's Out have?

Six. Each one covers a section of the summer camp attached to Eagle Junior High School, and the campus widens as the chapters progress rather than the threat changing.

How many escape routes are there?

Three, and each requires a different toolset to open. Because you can only carry so much, supplying all three at once is the most common reason a run stalls — committing to one exit early is what makes the chapters finishable.

What is the crafting system?

Materials are collected around the camp and combined into tools. Those tools change how you handle an encounter rather than adding a flat bonus, so the crafting layer is what decides whether a route works, not a small optimisation on top of one.

Who do the children trade with?

Children found around the camp will exchange materials for what they know. They are also the clearest signal for which parts of the campus are still locked, so their price is often information as much as an item.

Do the mask pieces still matter?

Yes. Mask pieces are the campaign objective and are spread across the chapters, so the order you clear the wings in decides how quickly you can assemble them.

Is Sister Madeline different in this game?

She behaves the same way — she patrols and investigates noise rather than tracking you directly. What changes is the size of the building she is doing it in, and the crafting layer that gives you better options when she arrives.

What controls do I need?

WASD to move, mouse to look and interact, E to pick up and use, C to crouch, Shift to sprint, F to use a crafted tool and Tab to open the crafting and inventory panel. The full list is in the controls table above.

How do I beat Sister Madeline once she finds me?

You generally cannot fight her. Break line of sight, get a wall, door or hiding spot between you, and let her commit to searching the wrong area. The crafted tools are what make that survivable — they buy the seconds you need to get to cover.
